On January 19, 2022, at approximately 12:45pm, a fight erupted between multiple students at Aloha High School in the Beaverton School District (BSD). The identities of all students involved are being protected for their privacy.

According to school officials, the fight began when Student (A) became angry at derogatory comments made to him by Student (B) the previous day. During his encounter with Student (B), a third student, Student (C), stepped into the argument.

Student (A) became angry and began hitting Student (C). At which point, Student (C) along with three of his friends pushed Student (A) against a locker and punched Student (A) numerous times.

Eventually, Student (A) became free from the punches of the other students, and retaliated with a punch to the face of one of the students who had pinned him against the locker.

The student who received the retaliatory punch from Student (A) fell to the ground, hit his head, and proceeded to have a seizure.

Student (C) and Student (A) resumed their fight until school staff was able to separate them.

9-11 was contacted, and the injured student was later transported to the hospital. The injured student has since recovered. Other students involved in the fight sustained some bruising and scratches, but nothing that required immediate medical attention.

Some students recorded the fight on video using their cellphones and later shared the videos with other students. The Beavertonian obtained a copy of two separate recordings which depict the fight.

When students get into fights, they are subject to BSD’s Code of Conduct for fighting (Code 13), as well as a suspension agreement.

According to a BSD official, “If it is a student’s first fight, they are suspended for 3 days. If it is their second fight, they are suspended for 5 days, and if it is a third fight, they are suspended pending an expulsion conference.”

In this particular case, all the students who were involved in the fight were suspended from school, pending either a parent conference or an expulsion conference.
