This evening, November 14th, the District discovered that BSD student credentials may have been compromised as part of a security incident. This means that student passwords to email accounts, Google documents, Canvas and other learning platforms may be compromised.

Any assignments that were due tomorrow will be deferred until this issue is resolved. Staff will share more information about the incident tomorrow.

Beaverton School District’s IT Department needs to reset their computer system. If a student needs any documents from Google tonight, they are instructed to download them by 8 p.m. After 8 p.m., accounts will not be accessible temporarily. According to the District, documents and other information are not lost; they’re just not accessible until students reset their passwords at school tomorrow.

In addition, Chromebooks will be reset at 8:30 p.m. Students will not have access to Chromebooks until passwords are reset tomorrow at school.

BSD advised parents that “if your student has used their school passwords on other platforms (e.g., social media accounts), you should assume that those accounts, too, are compromised.” BSD advised that the passwords for those aforementioned accounts should be reset as well.

If you believe you or your student’s data may have been compromised, please contact Beaverton Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-011. The case number for this incident is: 233181089.
