On December 19, at around 7:15 pm, Gaston Fire District was alerted to a house fire in the 10000 block of SW Old Highway 47. The first firefighters arrived on scene and found a trailer fully engulfed in flames, which also spread to an adjacent barn. The fire in the office trailer was quickly brought under control, but the fire in the barn was spreading through the roof.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control and an additional hour of checking hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. No citizens or firefighters were injured.

Gaston Fire District was assisted on scene by several other services, including Forest Grove Fire & Rescue, Cornelius Fire Department and Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Portland General Electric, and Washington Country Sheriffs office.
